“SAIL to 60” Legislation Prioritizes Degrees, Training in Florida

Last week, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 7071 (HB 7071), a workforce education package created to strengthen the state’s talent pool.

The legislation establishes the “SAIL to 60” Initiative, which aims to increase the percentage of working-age Floridians with a high-value postsecondary certificate, degree or training experience to 60% by 2030. Tampa Bay’s current postsecondary degree completion rate stands at 51 percent.

The bill also calls for the Florida State Board of Education and Board of Governors to provide greater support for the Florida College Access Network (FCAN), which includes LEAP Tampa Bay and 12 other local college access networks throughout Florida.
