College Entry

Getting into college starts before the application process. Many schools use the Common App, Coalition App, or the Common Black College Application (CBCA)—so it’s important to check which one your college uses.
Most colleges also require SAT or ACT test scores as part of your application. These tests can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone! Be sure to talk with your college and career counselor about fee waivers—they may be available for both testing and college applications.
Taking the first step starts with asking questions and making a plan. Your future is waiting!

FAFSA, FINANCIAL AID, & SCHOLARSHIPS

All students deserve an affordable college experience and there are several options to help you afford your education. Your first step should be to complete the Free application for Federal Student Aid or the FAFSA. This application will help determine your Student Aid Index, which colleges and universities use to build your financial aid packages. A completed FAFSA will give you access to scholarships, grants, federal work study and student loans. Additionally you should register for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program and complete the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) to be considered for state based aid.
