OCTOBER 1, 2020 — LEAP Tampa Bay encourages students and adults to take the first step in applying for need-based and merit-based financial aid for college today, the first day the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2021-2022 year is available to download at www.studentaid.gov
Qualifying students can receive more than $6,000 per year in federal grants. Completion of the FAFSA has been shown to be one of the best predictors of a student’s intent to go beyond a high school education. Yet nearly half of the Tampa Bay area students who would qualify for this federal assistance do not apply, leaving millions of dollars of college financial aid unclaimed. LEAP Volunteers are helping to change that.
LEAP Tampa Bay College Access Network is a network of partners from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties representing business, education, philanthropy and government who are working together to help students of all ages succeed in education beyond high school. Our ultimate goal is to have 60% of adults hold a college degree or workplace certification by the year 2025 so they can improve their lives and be ready for the workforce opportunities available in Tampa Bay’s thriving local economy.
