The Free Application for Federal Student Aid – or the FAFSA – is one of the most important forms you will complete to help you consider all your options for college. The form determines if you are eligible for federal assistance for your education through grants (money you don’t have to pay back), work study opportunities or loans, as well as scholarships specific to the schools you are applying to.
Filling out the FAFSA can be a bit overwhelming if you’ve never done it before, however. To help students navigate the process, the National College Access Network has created a new resource guide. The guide includes easy-to-understand information about the FAFSA process and answers to the most common questions asked by students and parents, like how to set up an FSA ID, the documents needed to complete the form, and information about what to expect after submitting an application.

And don’t forget that LEAP Tampa Bay can point you to where to find local support as well, such as your local college’s financial aid office or through your school counselors.
